A collaboration between Jan Noble and Donna Mckevit came about after he gave her the book 'Forty', a collection of his poems.

She knew instinctively upon reading them that she could set his work and began to turn his poems into songs.

One afternoon, early this year, she felt compelled to write something beautiful for Jan and found the poem ''This is what I wanted to give you'' and set it for violins, double bass and voice. She recorded it and sent it to him that evening.

He gave her the poem, she gave him the song.
